Ok folks I know this has got to be about the most creative group out there! So I need some inspiration. I have made a MAME cabinet, and a jukebox. It's still raining here in the sunny state of Washington and I need to build something! I have a sort of game room going, with all of my projects in it that I have done thus far. But it is desperatly needing a new addition. So if anyone at all has any ideas for something else that I could build, let me know! I am always up for doing something crazy. No idea will be turned away, so give me some ideas!!!!!
please

How about a portable CP with mame inbuilt so you can take it to your friends on those rainy days....
Not very original, but i think you will find if someone has something original they are gonna have a crack at it themselves
cheers...

If you have room, how about a sit down driving cab, you could also put in controls like the ones on the half-life 2 cabinets (I'm sure you can find a pic if you search, I'm just lazy) so it wouldn't be restricted just to driving games and the games you'd play on it would be completely different from the Mame cab.
You could also do a cocktail cabinet...or a dining room table cabinet since you asked for creative ideas :)

Or if you want something different, I've always been fond of hidden bookcase doors.

I keep those links handy because both of those projects are on my todo list :)

well if your building a games room, would be good to add to that with either another mame machine thats setup different (4player/driveing/whatever)
or if you want something build something with less electronics/computers, maybe a foosball/billiards/air hockey

Build a shuffleboard table. Everyone loves shuffleboard. ;D

I have always wanted to tackle a Craps table. Getting it curved like a real table with a good felt. Mounting the chips holders.. Sounds like a big project.

You want an original idea.........something no one else has...........I got it........your new project........you ready for it.........here it comes.......ComicBook Viewing Cabinet.
Now before you dismiss me as crazy think about it for a minute. I think a bartop cabinet would be great. You could fill it with 1000s of comics (or if you are just a X-Men fan, for example, you could put every X-Men comic ever in one box with some kick ass X-men graphics on the side)
If using CDisplay as a comic viewer, the control panel would need a page forward and a page back button, some scroll up and down buttons and one button to exit the book. I am not sure about the frontend program yet, there are several comic collection organization softwares but I don't know if any interface with CDisplay. I never use them because in the ones I checked you have to input all the info manually for each issue and I have over 18,000 comics on a 250GB drive, that's too much work. I think a better idea might be to use a program like WindowBlinds or DesktopX to disguise the the look of Windows and just explore to the books you want to read with a tricked-out explorer window, in that case you could use a trackball (with one button for mouse clicks) to select the book to read. That's 6 buttons and a trackball in a bartop cab and you got your self an awesome comic station ;D
