Does anyone no why Black Widow only seems to save the first 3 highscores?
Thanks

Maybe they save the first 3 high scores permanently, and then the rest of the high scores are reset when the game is powered off and on. That way, they keep the main high scores, but when joe schmoe comes up to play a game he has a chance to get his name on the high score table, even though he can't compete with the 15-year-old top 3.

Is there any way to make it not reset and save all the high scores?

In MAME or the real thing?

If you're talking about the real thing, a lot of the Atari cabs of that era do that. My Space Duel only saves the first three scores. Anything after the third slot is wiped when you turn off the cab.
This actually annoys the CRAP out of me since the three top scores in all modes belong to some guy who set them before I got the cab and I cannot beat them. >:(

Real thing, no way to get it to remember all the high scores, unless maybe someone has made a high-score chip, similar to these:

I imagine that mame would also have the same limitations. Of course, you could just never turn it off (I wouldn't do that with a real one, but why couldn't you do it on a PC? You could just leave BW on all the time and alt+tab to it when you wanted to play. That might not work so well with a front-end, though).
Chad, can't you wipe them somewhere in the test mode in Space Duel? I know you can do that in Tempest. I'm guessing ops would want to wipe really high scores on occasion because people like to think that they are good enough to post a "high" score. For years I thought I was good on Tempest because I could always get in the top ten (never could crack the top three, though). I wiped the old ones on my Tempest and now the top three scores all belong to me but would likely only annoy a future owner for the ten minutes it took him to beat them all. :( I'm still no good at Tempest, but getting better...

There should be an option do erase or reset all scores in the operator's menu. Just turn on test mode.

I was talking about Mame. Does anyone know a work around in Mame?
-
Sure, I could erase them, but that's not the thing to do. The thing to do is beat them.

Somewhat on topic...
Just curious to see what folks high scores are on this game.
