Title: Questions from a new (old) MAME user
Post by: Jae200 on January 31, 2006, 04:31:27 pm
Hi.. I just got a cabinet and am ready to start playing.. Its been a long time since I've played with emulators and haven't kept up with new versions at all. Until I updated today, the version of MAME32 I was running was 0.67! Now that I updated to the latest, I'm finding that alot of games that used to play fine don't play because of missing files. Now bear with me since I've been out of the loop.. Games can be updated and better emulated with each new version of MAME, correct? So a new version comes out and it may be necessary to get a new file for a romset to get it to run. Such as Magician Lord for NeoGeo. I have all files except for a 000-lo.lo. This file seems to be common to all NeoGeo games and I downloaded 2 Magician Lord sets but the file isn't included in either. Where would I go to find these missing files? I'm also finding that with some newer games like Metal Slug 4, the files are named wrong and don't run. Like say, the files in the zip are MS4-x while MAME is looking for 263-x. Do I need to rename the files to get them running? Any help is appreciated. I'm ready to play but am sort of overwhelmed and unsure of where to find what I need. Thanks.

"000-lo.lo" is comon for all Neo-Geo cause that file is in the NEOGEO.ZIP BIOS. Thats one of the updates that MAME had included in the newer version. YOu need to grab the NEW BIOS.
YOu need to get CLRMAME to get your ROMS up to same level as your version of mame your using. From your old version, you may...will need to find those missing files.
