Title: Wiring a P360

I'm thinking about buying a P360, since they're on sale, but I don't know if it will work on my current psx pad. I have one of the gamestop brand ones. I'm really not sure how to put into words what the pcb looks like, so here's a pic. (sorry about the wires in the way)

I couldn't find a common ground on this pad, so I used a combination of the 4 wires shown to get the directions to work. This involved using one wire for a direction, and another for a ground, and then using a different pair for another direction and ground, and so on. On the P360, there's only one pin for a ground, so how would I wire the pad to work with the joystick? Did I do something wrong? Help is appreciated!

I've seen this strange multiplexer circuit design before on cheap Dreamcast Nyko's (the purple ones).  Others have gotten it to work same as you (some buttons are the ground of other buttons).  At least you were smarter and only soldered 4 wires, as everyone else I've herd soldered 2 connections per button contact.

Well I hate to say it but you are screwed if you are going to use a p360 as it only has one common ground.  Either buy a new $5 psx pad or switch your order to Supers.

What are you interfacing to? On consoles I have no idea where you can get 5v or even if you can. Unless its an xbox, those have 5v I believe. If its a PC you can easy get 5volts from a power connector, a keyboard port, or USB. If your connecting to a console you could try to find an old PC power supply and get your 5 volts from that. Another option would to get a 5v transformer.

I saw on some website that you could get +5V from a psx pad. Pin 5, VCC i think. Although, I'm not entirely sure if that is true or not.
