Title: Keywiz registering a 3, not a P
Post by: mmmPeanutButter on January 30, 2006, 07:35:09 pm
I set up the Pause button but it's not working.

When I press the button, I'm getting a 3.  When I use the Shazaaam button, it gives me a 7.  It is hooked up to terminal K.

The config is shown below.

Any ideas?

Right around March, 2004 (almost 2 years ago) the KeyWiz default codeset was changed to the one shown in the diagram.  It appears that you have a KeyWiz produced prior to that change.  That was the only change ever made to the set (P was inserted in place of  3.)

"P" is still available from the default codeset in your version by pressing Shazaaam! and a button attached to Input #5.

---smurfy---.   :-\

ok, so options...

-  I could either use the shazaaam key with button 5 as you mentioned.

-  Could I use a 1-click Shazaaam! Adapter from your site?  Is that what it does?

-  I could set up the RAM keys to be the exact same as the old ROM set with the swapping of the P and the 3 (so that it is like the current ROM set).  How would I get this to load up at start-up and to be the default keys?

-  [edit]  Couldn't I just change the key within MAME to make 3 the pause button?  Cause as it stands with a two-player panel, I don't need the 3.  Sounds like my easiest option.

Yeah, just change the key mapping.  Simple software fix... not hard either.

Yep.  It will give you the same net effect.

Check the doc file in your KeyWiz folder.  It should be exlplained in there.  If not, drop me an email and I will walk you through it.

Easiest option.  It's what I would do.

Yes - basically that is what it does.

You save the desired set as a config file and then add a shortcut to the KeyWiz software with the appropriate -flag to your startup folder.

Yes, but this might not work for other emulators (of course, P might not either.)

Easiest option far.  It's what I would do.

Cool!  Nice mounting job.

But yeah, that IS an early version.  I almost forgot what they looked like :)
