Title: Anyone try a widescreen display in their cab?
Post by: edge on January 27, 2006, 10:09:20 am
Has anyone tried a widescreen (16:9) display in their cab?  My friend just got the new Dell 30" LCD (lucky him) and he will be giving me his Dell 24" LCD (lucky me) for a good price.

I was wondering how Mame will look stretched to a 16:9 aspect ratio.  Maybe someone with HTPC has tried it?

Thanks for the info.

i can't imagine that it'd stretch the image unless you forcefully made it so...

it'd be beneficial for horizontal dual monitor setups though...like techmobowl...!

I've noticed on my wide-screen laptop that MAME32 will reset the screen resolution to a non-widescreen format, which causes the stretching you've mentioned. I can't speak for any other versions of MAME.

The games are still enjoyable and playable, but when I then play MAME at it's correct resolution, the games seem squashed to me.
