Even though it's wicked outdated, I still use SortInfo (http://hem.passagen.se/robert.palmqvist/Downloads/downloads.html) all the time.
To use Sortinfo now, you have to generate xmlinfo, convert it to listinfo and then import it to SortInfo (and then import catver.ini on top of it if you like).
Is there anyone among us that could put together a new version? One that could read Mame's xmlinfo.xml directly, import catver.ini like SortInfo does and perhaps also import controls.dat info too ?
There's much more info in xmlinfo than used to be in the old listinfo, so there's no way of using the old SortInfo if I wanted to sort out games by fields like 'Save State', 'Palette Size', 'Aspect Ratio', 'Cocktail Dipswitch' etc.
It seems like it would be a simple enough little app for someone well versed in XML parsing to put together.
Or is this another reason for me to get off my arse and finally learn to code something?

Well, there's listgen and listgen.net. Though you have to know a bit about querying.
