update: Thanks guys!! Problem solved very easily. Though the board was clean and everything LOOKED to be seated well, i reseated everything and the game works beautifully now. New molding and sideart and this one is ready to go to the gameroom. One down 10 to go!!
I've been searching for similar questions regarding this problem but am running out of time. I need to make a decision on what i am to do with this game....fix it or sell it for the $200 i was offered. I am only a hobbyist, not a technician by no means. I can replace this or that and diagnose most problems myself or with enough time find an answer through various posts.
My problem will be obvious in the picture i upload. AS you can see, the characters Popeye, brutus, etc.. are just solid blocks.
my question, what is happening and where do i go about getting it fixed if i cannot fix it myself.
I'm still searching the archives.
thanks

You have a gameboard problem. Ship the board to www.eldoradogames.com for repair.

I know it is a gameboard problem, that is obvious. Sending it out is fine, but i don't learn anything that way. Even if in the end i cannot fix it myself i like to know why i can't.
I was offered 200 for it as is. I don't have much time to decide if i want to send it out or not. If someone tells me "hey, it's an easy fix, look at this or this, don't sell it" ... I won't. If it'll cost me $200 to send it out, i will probably sell it.
thanks

Well, I guess the first thing you can do is push on all the socketed chips to make sure they are seated properly. I would concentrate on the video board. If that doesn't work, look for chips with corroded legs etc.

a sprite issue for sure.... clean up those chips and reseat....

Thank you for the suggestion(s). It is worth for me to hold onto it and try myself then. It seems a worth while attempt and definitley within my ability. I did look it over and didn't see anything corroded or bad solder joints or the like. I didn't think reseating would have an effect on this problem so i didn't really get into it. I have decided to give it a go myself and send it out in the end if all else fails.
thank you
