hey folks, I'm trying to play Klax running MAME 102. The colors seem to be off (I have an actual Klax conversion in my gameroom) -- the red and the orange look so much alike, they are practically indistinguishable.
Anyone have similar problems? My monitor seems to display colors just fine for other games and applications, so I don't think that's the problem...

bump.
thought I'd try one more time, since it has a huge impact on how I may proceed with my cab. If no response this time, I'll drop it, I promise.

I have a Klax board as well, but it would be a PITA to get it out and find a power supply to test it out. Have you asked on Mame Testers? Or, better yet, have you made sure your color purity is correct?

Do you have any screenshots from your conversion?
I just fired it up in MAME and I could tell the difference between orange and red. Sample pics would help us know what you are talking about.

I don't have screenshots of the conversion, but I can take a screenshot of the emulation and post it. I guess I can view that from another computer, too, and rule out a problem with my monitor...
thx for the input...

bring up some color screens and see if you see "blobs" of color fading.
(Is this an arcade monitor?)

sorry I'm just getting back to this -- been out of town on business. :(
Anyway, I'm attaching a png of the klax color issue from mame. The orange is in the center column, red is second from the right. You can tell them apart, but it's tough, nothing like it appears on my actual klax machine.
I'm using a computer monitor, by the way, although I'll likely be using a TV for my cab...
thx

That looks like there's plenty of difference to me. I used to love playing klax at the arcade. I fired this up on my cab and it looks fine to me. Could this be a color wash issue on your monitor?

well, I'm looking at this from a different computer now, and I've got to say, it looks completely fine to me. Looks like I need a new monitor for my computer... :(
At least I know, though...

Could just be a brightness issue.

I'll try fiddling around with it when I get home, but it's probably due to be replaced anyway. I think it's been on constantly for like the last 7 years or so.
