There was a great site for this at one time, but it appears to be down now.
http://www.miavio.com/HappILMech.htm
Unfortunately, while web archive has the text, it doesn't have the pictures. Anyone have a copy of this tutorial saved?
-
Bumping this back to the front page. There are too many of these mechs in service for the answer not to be known.
-
Any update I too want to modify my coin mechs to accept all coins :D
-
I couldn't figure it out with the plastic happ coin mechs. Not sure how it would be possible since plastic doesn't bend.
You might try buying so old metal ones off of eBay. I got mine from TheNasty and they work great. Metal bends. :)

I just emailed the BYOAC member who had originally put that info up on the www and told him about this thread, so hopefully he still has it somewhere and the info will make its way back into our collective reality.

I'm after this info also, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Excuse me, since I probably don't know what I'm talking about. Are you talking about a Happ door with Happ Mechs in them? If so, I have those and I also have a piece of paper with them that discusses how to modify what coins they accept. Are you interested in seeing that text? If so, I could probably take a picture of the paper and send it to you.

Hey guys
I've been away from the hobby for awhile because I have been very busy with a new job. Unfortunately, in trying to cut my expenses I moved my site to a cheaper host provider and because the hobby wasn't at the top of my mind, I forgot to grab the page you guys are referencing. However, I my have the original pics somewhere at home on one of my backup drives. I'll look tonight and get back to you guys when and if I find them. Otherwise if anyone has a specific question, I'll try and answer it for them here. Thanks.
Mike

Thanks! The problem was, the site tutorial was so good that it became the defacto illustration for those mechs.

Hey there Mike, thanks for popping in. The text of the page is located at the Internet Archive, so if you can come up with the accompanying pics, that'd be great; somebody could put the two together and we'd be set. I don't know if it will help or not, but the pics seemed to be originally named: ILHapps01.jpg through ILHapps05.jpg
Cheers

Hey guys, found a quick fix that should work...
First remove the little black cir-clip holding the "Red L-Shaped Leaver" in place. The lever should now come off. You should now find that the BYOAC tokens work a treat.
I can't verify this as I don't have any BYOAC tokens, but mine now accepts quarters, aussie half penny and 2 francs. All very close to the BYOAC tokens.
Hope this helps

Here are the instructions for these mechs from the original site. Big thanks to Mike Perry (MP2526) for this - we was cool enough to go and retake the photographs for us!!
Thanks Mike.

If I do this will it allow me to use any size coins? my mech currently accepts 50p's and would like it to accept anything 10's,20s,
-
No, for that you need TheNasty's all-in-One Mech. Search for it here.

Thanks Mike.
No Problem guys, glad to have been able to help. Hopefully, when my job duties settle down, I can get back into the hobby, I have a storage room full of Kensington hackable mice, Betson trackballs, coin mechs, 1 inch red lighted square buttons and coin mech switches I need to sell. Plus several half finished project machines I need to complete. I just haven't had time to get all the stuff together.
BTW Dave, on your site I noticed when you click on the pics it sends you to my old site. You might want to fix those links so if someone clicks on them they get a larger image to better view the hack. Thanks again for offering to host this page.
