Title: Color Controllable SlikStik Lighted Joystick Handles?
Post by: g1275 on January 22, 2006, 04:06:54 pm
I know the multicolored cycling balltops cannot be color controlled by a led driver board, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried to hack these things to put in a regular rgb led? I remember SlikStik saying that the rgb leds were too big in size to be used with the joysticks, but I think it would be a shame with all of these led products coming out to have something this cool looking not be color controlled.

Well, you would also need a way to run 4 wires through the handle as well.  I would think the handle is only set up with 2?  Maybe with a stereo jack...(they use an audio jack on the end of the handle for connecting the wires.

I know they make three pronged mini jacks, one for video, one for left, one for right. I don't think it's impossible, but definitely more difficult to say the least.

I've also been wanting to do this for a while.  I finally did it.

Here is the post of how I did it. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=52509.0)

Sweet! That's been the only reason I didn't shell out for a set of these. Now if they were only long enough for Robotron I might just get 2 sets :)
