Title: Which MAME version to run with MAMEWAH & XP?
Post by: MPTech on January 22, 2006, 12:10:58 pm
Finished my cabinet just before Christmas and ordered the complete MAME DVD set. WOW is that a lot of games!
Originally I was running W98se on a P3 450mhz, but some games stutter and some fighting games just won't run.  I've also had issues with w98se freezing.  So I've bought upgrade components (ASUS mobo, 3ghz CPU, and 512k memory), THAT should give it a definite boost!  So since I'm in the process of rebuilding and reloading the OS, my question is, which MAME version is best with MAMEWAH and XP?  I heard the latest version doesn't work well with MAMEWAH and doesn't support X-Arcade well. (that's what I have installed).

Thanks!

also, what screen savers do you guys run? (Arcade related?)

I don't know about any issues with the latest Mame. It will run fine.

I heard it is better to use a previous MAME version (with command line?).

I've been running version 102 (I think) on a 2.6 ghz with 2gig ram. I've been using Emuloader but like how mamewah looks. When the cab is built I think I will definately try it. I know 102 supports x-arcade...that is what I currently play with.

Nope, no real difference in connection with Mamewah and Windows XP. So go ahead and use the latest commandline mame (Win32)
