Post by: francmusic on January 22, 2006, 05:58:45 am
How many Mame games use more than 5 buttons/1player?
I want to test my control panel but I'am looking for 7-button game example.
Please help.

I am not aware of any 7 button games.

*Edit: Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat games use 6 buttons.

The mahjong (spelling) ones use heaps of buttons I think. But that would be it.

Wiley in "Project arcade..." suggest to use 7 buttons per player for 2-players control panel. Mayby some buttons are doubled in different position ?

So you suggest to project 6-buttons control panel?

7 button layouts allow you to play Neo Geo games and Street Fighter games using the original button layout.

Do a topic search on 7 button layout, there are heaps of posts and answers on how it is used. Markrvp even did a snazzy little diagram if memory serves me correct...

I will be building with a 7 button layout. It is not set for 7 button games though. I am doing it so I can do  an asteroids type set up and a vanguard type set up. LED wiz will help with trying to sort out what buttons to use.

Bones is right... you don't use the 7 button layout for 7button games... its just meant to emulate 2 of the most popular button layouts in one move.

Use the bottom 4 buttons for NeoGeo games, and use the 2x3 layout for figthing games.
