I recently had a hard disk die and had to reinstall everything. I copied the mamewah files from my backup and whenever I tried to exit back to windows, mamewah would be using 100% of the CPU and there was no cursor visible. I could kill the application in task manager but something is obviously not right.
I ended up reinstalling mamewah from scratch and the same thing happens. Anybody have any ideas on what the problem could be? The only other clue, but I don't think it's related, is that when I installed the mamewah system files, during the execution of the last line of the setup.bat ( regsrv32 for the paintx.dll) it always gives me an error.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm using xp pro with sp2 installed. It's a dedicated cab with nothing else installed.

Well I figured everything out. Just in case this happens to somebody else, here's how I fixed it.
The problem with mamewah locking up was the resolution in XP. I had it set on 1024X768. When I lowered the resolution to 800x600, mamewah ran fine.
I also couldn't get paintx.dll to register. I tried everything the FAQs said including using the command line. I ended up downloading the system files again and running the setup.bat one more time. This time it worked. I assume my paintx got corrupted when the HD was failing or something.
I was also able to use my original backed up mamewah installation. The only thing I noticed is that my mame.ini file was reset to the defaults at some point. I copied the file from my backup and everything seems to be working fine again.
