did I mess up my mod?
I soldered all wires as to web sight.
looks good to me.
Game cube boots up to qoob screen
originals will spin and say playing game but stays on qoob screen FOREVER
backups say disk read error : (
I might have messed up the 5 volt solder point. the gold contact sure disappeared fast.
15 Wat solder iron
do I need to flash bios?
how do I do this?
qoob sx has no usb interface
advertised as direct boot of backups
have 1 more gamecube to try again if needed
booting to gamecubes old bios and it says insert game cube disk?
check disk with qoob and originals check ok
backups diskread error

if you haven't flashed the bios, you will have to. I've only done it on my gf's Qoop Pro with USB, but I've read that you can do it over a network with the SX. You'll need to have a GC Broadband adapter to do that obviously. The flash program is very simple to use once you get the GC on a network so you shouldn't have many problems.
That would be my first guess. It's possible that it's your soldering but I think updating the BIOS would be the best first step.

I have to get a BBA!
thats why I went to qoob sx. so I qwould not have to hook up the network >:(
I cant do this by disk?

you might be able to.. like I said, I've only had first hand experience with the Qoob Pro. I seem to recall reading about the SX though, and it only mentioned network flashing. It might be able to be done on disc though, I won't be much help there.
I think the USB interface is well worth the few extra bucks for the Qoob Pro. I plan to get one soon for my GC.

crap.
seems like you are right.
anyone want to flash the bios on this ...... brick?
-
I don't think you bricked it, try diferent q00b bios'. I had a couple that didn't work, but once I had the correct bios everything worked 100%. ;)

I know I could take chip out and it will work fine. but with chip in and no way to put in new bios it is worthless to me.
I think I will offer the chip on buy/sell/trade
and save up for the viper extreem.
I have to pay spiffy shues some cash first.
darn set backs :(
I will give this post a week. hope someone with a bba can flash the chip for me.
weekends are slow around here, Hope Monday- Friday some one can pop in help me flash this thing,

If you decide to get a Viper Extreme I'd recomend getting one from Adam at OTBMods.com he just ordered some and said he should have them in stock by Wednesday or Thursday. The only other places I've seen that carry the chip like Diveno etc have gotten a lot of bad reviews about their customer support so I don't know that I'd want to chance buying one from them.

Slight hijack...
So, I've got a backup 'Cube and am thinking about finally modding it. I'm not interested in backups---just imports (okay, technically a backup, but still) and emulation (if it's worth it)...
That said, what's the advantage of a mod if you've got a ton of originals already? Is the emu scene that good on the GC? What imports are worth looking for?
Sorry for the noob question...

Modding a regular GC with a region switch (boot w/japanese bios) is easy, don't even have to solder anything! (well I did solder to the contacts of my SPSD switch..but thats it).
