Title: Wireless USB

I know I'm getting old when this stuff keeps surprising me. I know about Bluetooth, but I didn't think you'd ever be able to make old USB stuff wireless too.

I'm going to pick up one of these as soon as they come out.

If those will work with an Ipac or GP-Wiz, then we've got a whole new ballgame.

You must excuse me this time, but I couldn't help it.

I have a USB-less wire.

UWB is going to be interesting. If they can get it right for products, as well as make it inexpensive, we're really going to be pushing cool stuff in consumer electronics.

What are some of the practical applications? I'm interested in hearing some of the creative things you guys suggest. From the obvious, to the far out there. When it comes to hardware, my imagination is pretty limited for some reason.

UWB (ultra wideband), also known as wireless USB has a potential for 480 Mbps over the air.  This would allow for wireless cable connections, wireless speaker connections which sound good and are reliable, and wireless monitors (amongst many others...these are what I consider to be the coolest).

Within a very limited range.

UWB, as woogie said, has amazing potential.

It's already released and working?

I've been waiting for wireless USB to hit the mainstream for a while now, although what I really want is a CompactFlash adapter so it will work with my PDA.   I've got Bluetooth, but no bluetooth items and I don't want to spend the bluetooth cash for a bluetooth keyboard etc.

Any more info on the eBay version from Japan?  Just searching for the terms "wireless USB" turns up a bunch of bluetooth dongles and things of that nature.
