Title: what gets damaged if refresh rate is too high?
Post by: weaklink on January 19, 2006, 11:21:22 am
I think I figured out what happened to my betson.  after I got the wg9200 installed I ran refresh force to take out 800x600.  I had left 800x600 with the betson.  Anyway I decided to check out the refresh rates and noticed some 200 hz settings.  I had checked the desktop settings (640x480 32 bit) but had never gone under advanced-adapter settings to check out the refresh rate.  Turns out, windows had selected 200 hz by default!  Would this have damaged the monitor?   What would need to be replaced?

The sync chip. The IC chip that controls the sync.

thanks for the response. next question-if the sync chip is damaged, then would this prevent the monitor from powering on?

If it was over driven it could have failed by causing a short or low resistance to ground. This could prevent your ps from powering up.
