thanks lcddream, :) I looked and there were know reviews. I agree about there being know substitution for a good teacher but I don't want to cough up cash for lessions until i mess around with it for a while and see what i can teach myself.

One of the first things you'll want to do is pick up a book, though. Anything by Ernie Ball is fantastic, from personal experience. That'll start you off with some easy stuff (can you say...Hot Cross Buns?!). Then I would start learning to read tabs and pick up the DVD. The thing about starting with a DVD or a book is it's hard to get the initial discipline of sitting in front of the book and learning all the notes. I jumped in to guitar way too fast and my theory is terrible.
Just a suggestion, sorry I don't know much about the software or DVDs.

I keep meaning to pick up my guitar and learn to play it. I bought it in 2000 with the intention of learning... and it's been in the bag since 2001.

I would buy any book with Lyndsay Lohan on it.

If you have comcast cable they have on demand guitar lessons in the music section. They are half-decent

Dude that's awesome. That is the first thing I've heard of Comcast having that DirecTV doesn't.

Try Guitar Hero for PS2 :P
