Running 1.62b9.
Last night I ran MCM to clean out some of the mature games, puzzles, mahjong, etc. It ran fine and did everything expected of it.
Regenerated my list and Mamewah was displaying only the rom names. (ini was set to rom folder). No problem, changed to rom_folder_vs_listxml, generated a listxml.xml file, regenerated a game list in Mamewah and all seemed well.
Tried to run a game and Mamewah crashed. Rebooted, tried another game, crashed.
I'm not absolutely sure that changing the list generation method caused the crash (can't see how it would) but at 1:30 am I didn't want to go to bed with the machine not functioning - I knew I would just stew over it for hours while I tried to sleep. I'm just that kind of freak.
I Switched the generation method back to rom_folder, created .nms file, regenerated mame list and everything runs fine - well, almost everything.
My skin is set to display the control type as well as the manufacturer & date.
Neither of these is being displayed using the rom_folder & nms method.
What am I missing. I'm sure I fogot a step.
Any guidance is appreciated.

That list_generation_method is correct (for MAME v0.84+)...but I'm not sure what you mean by 'generated a listxml.xml file' - you do not need to do that, Mamewah does what it needs to itself.

Sorry, should have updated this thread this morning.
I tried the rom_folder_vs_listxml method again last night and it worked with no problems.
I have no idea what might have caused the earlier crash - if it works now I don't really care why it didn't work before.
What I meant about generating the listxml.xml was running mame with the -listxml command line option.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to the post.
