Hi,
I have been reading alot and have got enough parts to start constructing my first scratch built cabinet shortly, the prototype panel is built/being modified already
BUT I have a question. In my searches for parts I got some very good deals including a 33 inch monitor that cost about

Check out some real machine plans, and see what you think. (http://www.jakobud.com/)
I like the pac/gal* leaned way back (30 degrees from horizontal, I think) monitor, especially if the tube on the monitor sticks way out the back. You can get a smaller footprint cabinet that way.

i think most scratch built cabinets have a 10 degree tilt backwards. it makes for a better viewing of all different kinds of games.

I will give 30 degress will give a smaller footprint? I might have to give that a go.
I kind of like the 10 degrees tilt, anything other then upright has got to be good.
I was originally trying to make a machine that would look like Mortal Kombat II remake, but because of the sheer size of the screen now I don't think that possible at all.

just to point out the obvious, if you build a cab around this monitor, the cab won't be able to fit through regular sized doors...

:D
I am aware of that, The cabinet is going to be designed so that I can assemble it in the room it is going to be played in.
It is also going to be designed so that I can take it apart if I ever have to move it. Although in reality it will probably only withstand about 2 or 3 rebuilds and then it may start to have problems.
Of course by then I plan to have moved on in the whole design stakes and will have built something else by then.
