I've bumped up the maximum avatar size to 120x120.
Let me know if this is a problem for anybody.
-
w00t!
-
the only problem is that now I'm going to have to do stuff to make a biffer avatar
-
Now my avatar is pixalated! Does it have to stretch the avatar?

Looks like that if it is linked from another site it'll try to resize it. If you upload the avatar, it'll only resize if it's bigger than the limit. I've taken the liberty to download the image you linked and upload it to the site.
-
If you upload it (however you did that) is it then available in the dropdown list for new users to use?

Nope.

Don't know, but it wasn't there. I uploaded it again and selected it.

Aaargh, ye bastart!

Since I'm linking my avatar from another site (and it's an animated GIF), can I use the [img] tags to resize it? It looks bad stretched.
-
there's a site that can do that for you....
http://www.gifworks.com/

It's already a small size and I wanna keep it that way. Unfortunately the site seems to stretch it to it's maximum size.
It's no big deal but it would be nice if everyone could drop what they're doing and fix it now.
I can't hold the hounds back for much longer. ;)

HP, I don't have a good answer just yet, but I'm working on it. The way the forum administration works is that I can set a max size, but I also set "Resize through HTML" so that if anybody puts in one larger, they still get the avatar, but it resizes so we don't get some huge image. The problem with the logic on the board is that it applies the size to anything, even if it is smaller.
The easiest way right now to fix is to upload the avatar instead of using the URL link. That will upload the avatar in its native format as long as it's below 120x120 and retain the native size.

Damn I'm stupid. I thought I read somewhere on this board that you couldn't upload animated gifs to the site.
Works like a charm now. Thanks. :)

You're half right. As long as the image is smaller than the forum max, it will leave it untouched. The issue is that if the image is larger than the forum maximum (in this case 120), then it will download the image, resize, but then save the format as png. Since they are using GD (which doesn't support GIF anymore) the animation is pitched.

I always wondered what that was.
What is it? ;)

Eff yoo-ooo-oo!

Awesome, I took advantage right away. Thanks!

For a long time I thought it was a weird skeleton looking pirate too, with a red bandana on his head. Then one day I saw it and realized that it's just a little robot remeniscent of the guy from Lost in Space or something.
