Title: DONKEY KONG in MAME
Post by: BUCKETHEAD on January 15, 2006, 09:06:42 pm
I was playing DONKEY KONG in MAME the other day,

And noticed some of the sounds are missing.

#1  At the beginning when DONKEY KONG jumps up and down and makes the
Steel beams crooked, There is no booming sound.

#2  JUMPMAN/MARIO makes no sound when he walks.

#3 JUMPMAN/MARIO makes no sound when he jumps.

#4 JUMP/MARIO makes no sound when he climbs ladders.

There may be more?  These are the ones i just noticed.

Is this because i don't have something set right in MAME?

Or is it because that is as close as they could get it in the emulation?

Thanks!

BUCKET ....

You need sound samples for that game...as well as some others..

just get them from the web and put the zip file into the "samples" folder within Mame

Thats probably one of those things that you guys who been in Mame for a while just know. But, that was a huge tip for me too! Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and Donkey Kong Jr. were all missing sounds and driving me crazy. Thanks to you - I got'em back.

Thanks!

save the frustration now and download ALL the samples from mame.net . so down the track when you discover another old fav youd forgotten about, the sound sis there to go (",). also, if you use mame32, it lists which games need samples...
