Thinking of a theme for my cab..............
Does any sale white joysticks? Reference the pics below. Instead in all white/pear.
I have seen the translucent (clear color) ones like Ponyboys. (if needed where do I get those)
Second Question:
I have some used joys....how do I tell what they are (ie 4 way/8 way)
-
1) NEVER seen white joysticks.
2) Can you move the joystick into a corner and feel both the side and the top click? Look at the restrictor plate, are the corners rounded?
-
The only white joys I remember seeing were balltops.
There were the standard Wico ones that just had the white ball, and some other one that has a white ball, with a white tapered sleeve going down the visible part of the joystick.

The Naki Wireless Controller has a white battop:

Sanwa makes white replacement battops:

You can get them at http://www.himuragames.com/store_joyacc.php

Gee, it seems like that would be difficult to keep clean? *Anything* white tends to show any hint of dirt very easily. Also, depending on the material used for the handle, it may be fairly difficult to clean?
-
Well, I think white balltops won't get too dirty because they're mead of a hard and very smooth surface, I don't know if the white battops are textured, but if so, they would get dirty in due time.
If it's for personal use, and not in an arcade environment, all will be well I guess...

Would this be compatible with happ type joysticks. Meaning will I be able to replace their tops w/ this top?
And regular paint on the base?

No, The Sanwa Bat Tops only work on Japanese joysticks. They won't work on a Happ joystick. If you are going to go with a Jap joystick I'd recomend getting a JLW-TM-8 joystick with a GT-0 restrictor.

Whould the japanese hole sizes be the as the us hole size (1 1/8)?
Where would I get the japanese joys from and would the work with the i-pac?
Do they use switches?

Buy some white vinyl dye, that should do the trick...
::)

If you really want Happ sticks in white then the manufacturer (www.industrias-lorenzo.com) does actually offer them in that colour. Unfortunately Happ doesn't.
So your options would be to either buy direct from IL or try and persuade one of the resellers on this board such as Ponyboy to make a special order. Either way it's likely to cost quite a lot.

I occasionally see white ball-tops on Ebay (used)

What does the GT-0 restrictor do?
Looks like a circular restrictor plate for the stick. Stock Sanwa sticks come with a square gate, which is very different from Happ style sticks. You can definitely feel the corners, which makes 360 motions a bit more difficult.

Isn't that exactly the same stick as Ultimarc's J-Stick?
(BTW, why are you recommending this one?)

If you get the larger dust cover it would cover up a 1 1/8" hole. Personally I like the smaller dust cover better, but it would only cover a hole that is less than an inch. The joystick uses the same mounting holes as a Happ joystick but it either needs to be mounted on a metal control panel or have the wood routed down to about 1/4".
What does the GT-0 restrictor do?
It is a circular restrictor which would make the joystick feel more like an American joystick.

Yes, Ultimarc orders their J-Sticks from Sanwa. They are pretty much the same thing. I recomend the JLW-TM-8 over some of the other Sanwa Joystick because it is a little bit stiffer and so it would probably feel better to people used to american sticks. It is also sturdier built so it can take more of a beating. And it works better in 4-way mode than the Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y joysticks do.
