Title: Newbie Question
Post by: JustPassinThru on January 14, 2006, 07:11:03 pm
I'm about to start my cabinet conversion this week after picking up the machine Monday. Supposedly the machine works fine. While I'm waiting to get the machine and see what I've got I've been reading as much as I can. After a while my mind gets scrambled trying to remember it all. Anyway, I was really excited until I got to the part about monitor safety. Actually it sounds really intimidating dealing with the monitor. High voltage, electricution etc...anyway I planned to keep the monitor, if it was in good shape, because I wanted my machine as authentic as I could get. Is dealing with the monitor as hard as it sounds? Can I use the monitor without killing myself in the process?   :) I was hoping it was a fairly simple process. Maybe some rewiring along with the ArcadeVGA board. I need that right? Thanks for any help.

Most experienced technicians will tell you the danger is exaggerated if you know what you're doing, but stay cautious.  Positions your hands carefully, and avoid the big red wire.

You will need two hands to carry it, but always keep one hand behind your back when working on it.
