Ok here is how to do it...
Go to the sound volume settings via
START->PROGRAMS->ACCESSORIES->ENTERTAINMENT-> Volume Control
Then change it to show the recording settings.
Make sure you have selected STEREO MIXER and you have the volum up enough 50% will be more than enough.
Now launch winamp and select you favourite VIS and then open a url in winamp and type
linein://
Then launch your jukebox and watch the vis dance along with you tunes. I hid the playlist and winamp it's self what you do with it is up to you...
Have fun. ;D

Superb find! Why didn't anyone else find it? Do you know how long I have been wanting that?! Well, I know you do Barcrest. Thanks again.

I can't find any "STEREO MIXER" option.
Also, what version of WinAmp are you using?
Thanks
-
The latest version, whatever that is 5 something i think.
-
The stereo mixer is there, I can't remember how to get to it. Barcrest, the directions you give aren't exactly the same ones you gave me to get there.
-
Click OPTIONS and then PROPERTIES in the volume control to bring up a pane where you can select recording. There will also be a list box, see if stereo mixer is showing in there and if so make sure it has a tick in it. Once you ok that box you will see all your sliders for recording volumes, you thne just need to select stereo mixer and you are way.
There you go.

Been playing with winamp. I was hoping for something that would start up the way it needs to be automatically...can you do that with winamp?
-
Well you can make winamp start up with the line in setting as i described and it should also load up with the correct plugin and that should retain it's settings.

Ill take another look. When shut it down and restarted it, the visualization was no longer displayed...had to bring it up again...

Still no dice for me. This is what mine looks like. Nothing there that says "Stereo Mixer"

Try the wave out mix. The option you are looking for is the one that allows your microphone to come out of your speakers.
-
can't get mine to work with this onboard sound/drivers...but its not what I'll be using in the juke...so...
-
You need to call up the properties and show all the recording devices. You should then have a stereo mixer or simular. Select that as the recording device and it will work...

WOW What sound card is that??? Either try updating your drivers to see if you get more options or just go and buy a new one. Cause even the cheapest of cards will offer you more than that :o
-
Now you three have got me going. I will take a look this weekend at my setup and let you two know how I have it set up. If Barcrest would just intergrate this into his program, we wouldn't have this problem. ;D

Its the onboard sound on a new Intel motherboard. Funny because it has this special software with it for different options. I'm not worried about it though, its not what i'll be using on the Juke.
Still can't get Winamp to start up with the visualization still displayed. I always have to go to view/visualization...

in winamp go to the options menu, select preferences, then select plugins from the list onscreen. Tick the box marked "Auto Execute visualisation plugin on playback"
that should take care of the auto starting of vis
