Title: can i set up a new mobo with Arcade VGA?

I'm considering purchasing a motherboard that does not have onboard video.  I will be using an Arcade VGA card.  So my question is... when I hook up the motherboard and all the components for the first time, can I use the Arcade VGA card?  Or will I need to buy a cheap video card?
