I'm in the process of planning/purchasing for my first cab. My question comes in on the best way to interface the components I have already.
3 Happ Joysticks & 18 buttons (2 8 way and 1 4 way joystick)
1 3" Betson Imperial Trackball PS/2
I was looking at the new Cyclone Spinner which says it interfaces with the optipac

Normally I've read that folks will use the optipac for the spinner and the trackball, but this trackball is PS/2. I've got the IPAC2 for the joysticks and buttons.
Any thoughts on how I should interface this all together. Should I still use an optipac, go with a minipac. So many options and so much confusion.
Thanks,
Pete

You could go with the Ipac2 for the buttons and sticks and use Randy's new spinner/trackball interface for the spinner (it's cheaper):

Does it have an input for my PS/2 trackball? For that matter Does the optipac?

Did you try plugging the PS/2 plug into your PC to see if it works without another interface board?

Does it have an input for my PS/2 trackball?

Is windows smart enough to switch between the trackball connected to the mouse ps/2 port and the spinner if it is using USB or should they share an interface? The ipac2 will also be USB.

You can test that out by hooking up a PS/2 mouse (or your trackball) to a PC, then hook up a USB mouse. They should both move the cursor.
