Unbelievable!
At just about exactly 12:01 EST on Friday the 13th of Jan 2006, the web store crashed while attempting to add a new product to the catalog.
The crash resulted in the entire catalog file becoming corrupt and was not repairable with the backup.
So................
We are finally going to bring the new store software online and replace that sorry excuse for a web store. Eventually it will completely replace the current site and offer more information in the right places. It will also offer things like real-time shipping costs and other nice features.
So I guess it's a good thing, but it means that those who wish to order will have to wait a day or so until we get everything working again. I hope to have a majority of items in the catalog and ready to go by early morning (no sleep tonight! )
Please bear with me as I get the kinks worked out and unfortunately, you'll need to register again. It'll be worth it in the long run.
*edit*
The new store and website is now online. Check it out and let me know if you find any kinks!

Sorry to hear that.....
-
Tough break, but sometimes stuff like that is the perfect motivator. Sounds like this is one of those times.
-
Suggestion: Put the new store online at www.groovygamegear.com, instead of your old outdated site. No more shopping cart button!
-
So now we have to wait to buy those slick new lit buttons? Damn!

You got it. As I was putting in the info, I was thinking to myself "What the heck am I doing putting more stuff into this catalog? I should be getting the other one ready..." And then it made the decision for me when I hit the update button. Not only did the description I just put in magically vanish, but so did every other element from every other item.

Heh. Yeah. I need to figure out how to automatically re-direct. But that's on the list of things to do. Any important information on the old site will be either in the product description or link from within them. The old software did not allow for HTML in the descriptions (can you believe that?) which is one of the reasons why it's been that way for so long. GGG is about be a lot better place to visit.
So now we have to wait to buy those slick new lit buttons? Damn!
Those were the items that caused the problem..... :P
Thanks,

Drop an .htaccess file into your root web directory with the following line;
Redirect /oldpage.htm /newdirectory/store.php
or directory redirect
Redirect / /newdirectory

Heh. Somehow I knew you'd jump to the rescue on this one ;)
Thanks!

Ok, the new site is up.
Please take look and let me know what you think.
And please let me know if you see something screwy. There are so many options on these things it's hard to know that one has covered them all.
Thanks!

Looks great, everything comes right up.
However, I looked everywhere and I couldn't find the spinner...
::)

It does look great!!!! Good job on getting it up and running so quickly after the crash!

Very Nice!!!

Thanks. But we didn't do all of it last night. It's been brewing for a while and we just had to polish it up (a lot) in order to bring it online.
It's amazing what 16hours of work will accomplish :P
(now to finish putting stuff up)

I don't see the LED-wiz.

Not "screwy" per se, but going straight to http://www.arcadepanels.com/ doesn't get you anywhere.

Screwy enough. I'll fix that right now :) Thanks.
I don't see the LED-wiz.
Working on that too. Thanks!

Ok, it appears that everyone was getting charged NY sales tax, regardless of where they live.
The problem has been fixed. Thanks for your patience.

Replacement sticks for the Midway/Happ 49-way still available?
Can't find them listed.

Wow, nice job. Do you ever sleep?

Yeah, I could not find the new spinner either. ;D

Yikes! I knew I would forget something. Thanks for the heads up.
Wow, nice job. Do you ever sleep?
Not as long as I have coffee in my cup ;D Thanks. Now it's time to throw in links to the doc sheets, re-do some FAQ stuff and go over the old site and convert anything useful into something usable with the new one.
Yeah, I could not find the new spinner either. ;D
Errrr...:) Patience. Still testing some things. It already performs as well or better than anything out there. I think it can be better.....but if not, at least it will be cheaper :D

Do you charge just one NY rate? It's 8% over here, but the site charges 8.25%.
BTW... Love the new site layout, but would like to see more technical info on each of the products, perhaps even downloads of the documentation for each product?

Yeah, I use and report the "normal" NY rate of 8.25%. In your case it'll mean an extra 25 cents on a hundred dollar sale. Maybe the State can put the extra quarter to some good ;).

I'll be working on that shortly. Each of the doc sheets will be available on line. Should make it easier for everyone to have that info handy.
I'll also be hyperlinking product references so when one product talks about being used with another, the shopper will be able to just click on that product's name to bring up the catalog listing for it.
If anyone has other suggestions, let me know. I'll try to do as much as I can.

Suggestions:
A comparison chart for all your different interfaces might help people figure out which one they ought to buy. A noob shopping your site without the benefit of BYOAC training won't know why they ought to get a GP-Wiz versus a KeyWiz, or why they don't want a GP49 (unless they see it on the chart and get curious and do some reading and realize that they really do want a GP49, and a 49way stick to go with it!). You can point out the differences between the Eco, No-Solder, and Max versions there too. It could also pique the shopper's interest in products they may not have noticed, like the Opti-Wiz or LED-Wiz. ("Hey, what's this one that controls lights for?"
Why no Super or Competition joystick bases to go with the Versa-Ball handles? Folks might be more likely to order complete sticks, rather than ordering handles from you and then complete sticks somewhere else, only to toss the handles that came with the stick. It's less complicated.

Comparison chart is here: http://www.mameworld.net/tigerheli/encoder/main.htm#THE_PLAYERS (Except it also includes competing products and doesn't include the Opti-Wiz . . . yet). ;)

One more suggestion: it would be nice to have the tracking number put in the comments section of your order with the status.
-
Where can we download software from the new site?
-
If you go to the product information, the download should be there...
-
Ok. I was expecting to find software for the LEDWiz. I guess since it is beta it isn't up there.
-
Nice job Randy, looks much more professional.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with spinner-wise.
