Title: What is Neo geo emu/games?
Post by: Crony on January 11, 2006, 04:52:36 pm
Are they worth paying a subscription fee to download from a site? How well do they run in a normal mame cab and control panel.

Neo Geo games run in Mame...so they work well in a Mame cab (they use 4 buttons per player).  You shouldn't pay for roms as a rule, it's usually illegal.

Some games are good, some terrible, as with most systems.

Head over to NEO-GEO.COM (http://www.neo-geo.com/) and check out the screenshots, etc... you should be able to get a decent perspective of the games on the system

WCochrane, Neo Geo is just a brand of Arcade game hardware made by a company called SNK. Lots of different game developers made games using that hardware. It's almost like a home video game system that uses cartridges, except that this system was in use in arcade machines and the cartridges used to cost hundreds of dollars each.

(There was a "home" version of this hardware too. But that's besides the point.)

Where would you pay a subscription for this? I suspect maybe you're looking into one of these sites that charges people for Bit-Torrent links.
