I'm in the early stages of building my Jukebox, and there is one thing I'm not sure about, is what sort of speakers and what sort of power should I be putting into the jukebox.
I want to use it in my garage for parties, around 20m x 20m garage. Has anyone got any idea how many watts would be ample for this type of situation? I have been looking at the Logitech Z-5500 PC speakers at just over 500 Watts RMS in total. Should I be going for a car audio system, or a PC system? I wouldn't want to spend more than around $500 - $600 at the most.
Any ideas please, would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the dollars is in Australian dollars.
Thanks

Dude, do you really have a 3600 square foot garage? Did I read that right?

Hehe, yeah I do.
Anyone got any ideas?

Damn! Your garage is three 1/2 times the size of my house! >:(
Anyways, my suggestion, wire the garage with your standard indoor/outdoor speakers and run the wiring all back to a central point. Preferably where the Jukebox is going to be and pipe out sound from there.
Buy a nice receiver, wire the speakers into the receiver.
Take the jukebox PC, pipe the sound from it to inputs on the receiver.
walah, instant dance hall!

Now that's a real mans shed John!
For my juke I split the speaker output. 1 goes to an internal amp (20w & cheap crappy speakers) and the other goes to a set of RCA sockets. That way I can use the external receiver to really belt out the tunes to speakers inside and outside of my shed
Cheers

To be honest i wouldn't have thought so due to the shear size of the place. Personally i would have gone for some DJ type speakers and mounted them around the place and run the cables back to a decent amp. You will always have a trade off between volume and sound quality especially in place that big where you will need more than one sub to hear the base at a decent level in all parts of the erm.. Shed.

Just a bit of an update guys.
I have bought the Z5500's, and although the jukebox isn't ready yet, I have had the speakers connected to the PC it's going to be used with, and well.... I am so pleased with the sound quality and volume. I didn't expect it to be so loud and crystal clear as it is. I am pretty hard to impress when it comes to sound as I used to enter my car in the sound off competitions in Adelaide South Australia, and I actually got 3rd place one of the times. Now.. we're talking this was an $18,000 sound system so you can't compare it to the logitech speakers.
I guess what I'm saying is that I think it'll do a great job for some serious parties, and as for the bass... it's not too bad at all, plenty of thump.
2 thumbs up for the logitech Z5500's.

Anything that is THX certified is going to sound pretty nice. I have the 2.1 version of those speakers in my cab and I love' em.
