8-way is what you need for fighter games.  I picked up a MagStick Plus which has the added bonus of being swappable (just by lifting/spinning the stick) to a 4-way stick for older games such as Pacman and dig-dug.  Seems pretty sweet so far...

Fighter fans usually prefer Happ Perfect 360's.  Many fighter fans also like Happ Supers or Happ competitions depending on whether they like to feel the diagonals or not (Super is a more round feel.. Comps can feel the corners)  Sanwa joysticks are also very popular with fighter fans, and are the same types of joysticks used in some newer fighers like Tekken 5.

That's not to say that the Estik or Magstik are "bad" for fighters... but if you're a big fighter fan, most people would lead you towards the P360 or one of the others I mentioned.

I've decided to try the magstik plus. My buddy is ordering the 360's so I suppose I'll get to try them both out.

Man, so many people ordering the Magstick Plus and yet so little feedback!  Please let us know how it is when you try it out.  Specifically the spring back to center.
