Title: PCJukebox Opinions
Post by: mccoy178 on January 10, 2006, 12:22:25 am
I really really like the setup on PCJukebox, but I saw Barcrest mention that it's support stinks.  If anyone uses this software or has, I would like your opinion of it.  I can't get the names of the songs to display when I click on a cover.  I have to do a search or some other round about way.  I am going to reinstall it, but I'm nervous if their support sucks.

I saw some of the older opinions of it.  I can't get the name of the songs to display when I select an album.  Weird.  I think I'm going with nordbeat.  I love the look of it.

No... Sorry if i gave the worng impression before. The support has been lax of late but the forums are very good and it looks like andy is getting back on track. I purchased PCjukebox but to be honest i have found it to be too slow to be any use to me. This is why i went ahead and wrote my own software which to be honest does 80% of the stuff PCjukebox does and a heap of stuff it doesn't... It only uses 50% of the memory and will even run a P400mhz which there is no chance of getting PCjukebox to do in it's present state.

Do a search on here because over on beta news Norbeat is always getting a panning with every release, the support for that is supposed to be on par with VMJ not that i have used it. Have you tried DOSCAB, SK Jukebox, Arcade Music Box 2 and the others on here? With the options availble on here for free there should not really be any need to purchase some software to run your jukebox.

I like PCJukebox, but it's too slow for my needs, and it F'd up a crapload of my album covers when I first installed it and decided to trust it's process for downloading album art.

I personally think The PCJUKEBOX works just fine for most people.
I found that the version 6.2 is the way to go until they get 8.? running a little more stable/ I found that freebox was not to easy to work around and lacked to many of the features that I was looking for, not to say it was not good, some people may prefer it. There is a lot of good choices on this site, try a few and see what each one offers, Good luck.

I'll give Barcrests' Jukebox program a shot.  I just love the graphics on PC and Nord.  Nord did jack up a ton of my album art last night. >:(  I like all the ways of sorting those programs have.  I'll report back with more info.
