Try the search button.  Not to be mean, but you are asking a very very common question.  If you stick around for awhile, you will understand why I'm asking you to use the search button.  Try typing in mamewah and mame32.

Okay, to answer the question in it's basic form, I don't know if you can or not.  I just don't know why you would.  Mamewah is the same thing in theory as mame32.  A frontend.  You would just need the basic command line mame.  As far as mamewah is concerned, JCrouse's website has all the config files you need to get setup and there is a ton of info also over at www.mameworld.net (http://www.mameworld.net) in the forum section.  Mamewah has its own forum over there and Minwah,(the creator), and JCrouse are very helpful with questions.

Don't get peeved at me because of my reply, this world takes forever.  I got the same dang thing when I started.  Sometimes I luck out and get a great response, other times I have to buckle down and getter' done.  You're question is one of the basic of the basic, so I didn't feel it deserved an easy reply without suggesting you put some time in.  No hard feelings, and I look forward to helping when I can. :)

Welcome to the club.  Ironically there's a developer in here too, but it's like pulling teeth to get straight answers.   I asked the same question as you and still didn't get a good answer.

I don't know what the deal is with MameWah.  I got every other FE and version of mame working.  And the damn creator lurks around here, but there must be some little clicke or private club where they only help each other out and get their jollies watching other people flounder around in frustration.  I think there may be some sort of scoreboard in a private forum where they take pleasure in frustrating newbies.

I can appreciate your frustration, but you are unlikely to find a better guy than Minwah.  He has answered the same questions over and over and over again and just as nicely as the first time.  I think he is taking some time off to relax.  He just released a beta version of the new mamewah about six months ago and was swamped with it.  JCrouse, the other local expert on the program is in Mexico.  Please keep in mind this is all free programing and it really can be figured out if you do some serious homework.

I was chastised when I first started by some of the veterans by making some of the same sort of comments.  I know the comments are out of frustration, but I wouldn't post those thoughts if you want help here.

Have you been to JCrouse's site?  It has almost everything you need.  Have you been to http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=arcadeospc2jamma?  There aren't many questions there that haven't been asked.

What questions do you have about mamewah?  List them and I will help to what length I can.

I'll just say that yes it does work but I would NOT use it as it just wastes resources. Either use Mamewah with commandline mame or just Mame32 alone. Unless of course you want a slower machine ;)

Well, I got confused because I plan to use older comp. P3 700 and win98.Now I read that new mamewah is not supporting Win98.I don't want to spend more money that I already did and buy top of the line comp.I just liked look of mamewah, then I found Mamewah Setup a utility to make it easier on me, from http://www.mamewah-setup.co.uk/ but it doesn't support new mamewah, ok so I need older ver. now. Also someone said not to use new Mame because is slower then older ver. Did that downloaded older one, don't know if is the good one, because you have Binary and Source type.....and it goes on and on

Well I would take it one step at a time.  Tackle the old mame version first.  It is about 9:30 PM Eastern time.  I would go into the chat room on here and ask some questions.  Right now, Saint, Nivo, Sir Poonga, Peale(All moderators), and a bunch of others are on there.  Just put your name in the top and ask your question.  It may take a minute to get the answer, but more times than not it will come to you.  If the chatroom doesn't fire up, you need to install java from their site.  Takes seconds.  After you establish the mame issue, then move on to the front end problems.

Frankly I'm quite offended by that...if you bothered to search you would see up until recently I answer pretty much all questions about Mamewah.  I just haven't been around much over the last month or so, I haven't been 'lurking' anywhere.

Well, I got confused because I plan to use older comp. P3 700 and win98.Now I read that new mamewah is not supporting Win98.

I'm not sure where you heard that but it will work with Win98.  It runs better on XP IMO but it was first written under '98 so it will work.

To answer the original question...yes MAME32 will work with Mamewah, although for some it causes problems, and in any case I do not recommend it (use Windows commandline MAME from www.mame.net if possible).
