Title: isolation transformer and monitor cleaning needed
Post by: moonpatrol 4 lyfe on January 07, 2006, 02:23:38 pm
I just picked up an Electrhome G07 monitor.  Where can I purchase a good isolation transformer for it?

Additionally, the wires, boards, etc are very dirty.  What is the best method for cleaning them off?

Arcadeshop.com

To clean use a can of air and a 1" bristled common paint brush to knock the dust & dirt free.

I live by canned air.  I was gonna use it, but its powerless against really tough stuck on dust dirt.  Who would have thought to use a paint brush?

Thanks Ken!

Does anyone know where I can get an isolation transformer?

Whoops, sorry Ken, I didn't even see your link.

Arcadeshop.com has them for 12.95.  Is this what I need for my monitor?  Any additional wiring or anything needed?

Happs has them too for a few bucks more.  Is happs better or worse?  Are their's compatible.  Any additional wiring or anything required?

If you already have a game cabinet there should already be an isolation transformer in it.

So you don't have a game cabinet? What are you going to do with this monitor?

I have a seperate cab with no isolation transformer in it.  The monitor will go in there.  What transformer should I go with?  Do I need any other parts besides the transformer itself?

Yeh the isolation transformer at arcadeshop will work fine. You'll need the mating power connector for the Electrohome monitor and Bob Roberts sells that. He sells isolation transformers too. Also on his website is a basic power wiring diagram that just about anybody can follow for hooking up your monitor.

Is this the diagram you are referring to?  Do I need to purchase the fuse, filter, and distribution block on that diagram?

Obviously I will need to purchase the power cord and the power switch, since I doubt the isolation transformer includes that.

If so, this is just great.  The guy I bought it from said, "All you need is an isolation transformer!"  Now it looks like I need to buy a whole power supply.... or just a few components of one.

Thanks again Ken.

To power the monitor you only need the isolation transformer and a power cord.
