Title: Best game for calibrating screen?
Post by: RayB on January 06, 2006, 04:17:08 pm
Many games have test modes with color bars, and gradients, etc. Any of you have a preferred one for calibrating your [arcade] monitor settings?

I just use the Nokia Monitor test output at 640x480.

Pacman is pretty good because you have distinct vertical and horizontal lines and also white dots which will show a color cast if the color is off.

The all-time very best one is Street Fighter 2. It shows red, green, blue, and white staircase onscreen at the same time. Makes setting colors a snap. You can also select crosshatch.

My Double Axle has a nice test screen with color bars in gradients and a mesh pattern of white horizontal and vertical lines.

Will take a picture if you'd like.

Welp i tried tweaking my monitor using SF2's color bars. It seems that no matter what, the first 3 bars always look like they are the same intensity. Is this normal?

Turn the contrast control a bit (especially if the monitor is a k7000). If that doesn't help then turn the neckboard "Drive" pots down a tad bit.

Sweet tip, Ken.  I'm gonna use this one...

I have no manuals, schematics, or information on that model.
