you arent gonna believe this but when I read that article the other day, I actually sent the author an email telling him about MAME and the Cruisin series. Here's to hoping they listen to my email and give it a try and post results!

So 4.44Ghz is good for cruisin, huh?

So 4.44Ghz is good for cruisin, huh?
wonder how well it would run on a supercomputer? :D

No different. remember, mame is not written for multiple processors.

So the Mame developers speculate.

MAME just really doesn't seem to be suited to run games with any kind of polygons.. I wonder if implementing support for various 3D hardware and acceleration (OpenGL/Direct3D) would improve some of these drivers.. too bad it will never happen due to cross-platform compatibility issues which would surely arise.
Besides, then we would have to suffer through different GPU plug-ins and compatibility lists like those PSX/N64 emus :-\
But maybe it's time for MAME to spawn a derivative (like MESS for computers) for 3D game platforms..? It almost doesn't seem right to have these games in with the others..

There are emus that take advantage of the hardware, like zinc, nebula,etc...
mame is documentation project, not make it playable project.
hehe, it would be cool to have 3dfx games though and those of us that have oldvoodoo cards get to play the game it was meant to be played in:)
