FMD!!
They built a $123bn business around online text search then diversified into video, email and, more controversially, book publishing.

FMD!!
FMD?
Foot and Mouth Desease?
-
Australian term often used when surprised beyond all expectations.
---fudgesicle--- me dead!!!!
I was just clever enough to arrange the three letters. Mainly because I thought it would be cool, but mostly because right now I have nothing better to do.
-
learned something new ;D
-
Erm, the mouseover even says "Happy Birthday Louis Braille".
-
Hohw long have you been using google? They do custom titles all the time. Just click on it as it is linked to tell you what it is all about.
-
Hohw long have you been using goofle?
Is this a special google for BYOACers?

While on the subject of braille can anyone honestly tell me why they have a braille entry pad at every drive up ATM?
-
You can be "kind of blind"
enough vision to see trucks and cars
blind enough to miss buttons and small children
Art "hoping I didn't offend any vision impaired"

I can actually answer that. Every legally blind high school student in my district has the option of attending school here where I work, because we have a special program for them. I asked this very question of the teacher that we have who works with the blind students. She told me that person can be classified as legally blind, but still retain enough sight to be able to drive (wearing coke bottle eyeglasses), but not be able to make out fine up close detail like the numbers on the buttons at an ATM. Hey look. I provided some real information. I guess I'm done for the day.

-S- You are done for the day.... You broke your slacker oath and provided helpful information. Where's that dunce cap....

I have a silly knitted hat with ear flaps and a pom pom. Close enough?

What a horrible concept.
-
The sensitivity police with demand equal rights and new signs with braille on them will be up by end of the year. If not it's Bush's fault that those legally blind peoples rights as citizens have been infringed on.

Last I checked, blind people were still allowed to ride in the back seat of cars (Most of which actually have windows of their own). :P
They could also be a passenger anywhere in the car, and actually get out to use the ATM.
-
What a horrible concept. So, they can see cars and trucks. Can they read signs? Can they see traffic lights? Can they read their own spedometer?
Oh, sorry about the dead children, didn't see that stop sign, legally blind you know.
They have to pass the same vision tests (using the previously mentioned coke bottle glasses) that everyone else has to pass.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if someone can pass the standard driver's vision tests, wouldn't that make them something other than blind? Is "legally blind" that inaccurate a term?
-
I think they prefer the term "ocularly challenged"

Hell if I know. We do have a couple of students here who are legally blind but seem to be able to see me just fine when I talk to them. I'm certainly no expert.

<insensitive>I take it there's no cane or dog that serve as a dead give away to identify these legally blind people. </insensitive>

The real reason they have braille on ATM's is cause it's cheaper and easier to have one type. I mean, if they had to have braille ones for walk-up atms and non-braille ones for drive-thrus, it would be a nightmare on the supply side.
solution: all braille.

Oh sure, try and introduce logic into an EE discussion.

They tried, but the dog had a heck of a time keeping up with the car.

Take a dig boys if it makes you feel warm & fuzzy.
Does it have to be specific? I have some Coke-related things I was gonna try out ;)

ED'S BACK! ;D
Not sure who Ed is, but it's good that I'm not the only funny one around here anymore.
Hell yeah Ed.
-
I see bitchiness on the rise around here and it's not a desirable quality.
If I wanted to mix it with people that had the mentality of 12 year old girls I would have chosen another forum to dedicate myself.

Chad, why did you post a pic from "They Live"? I mean, it was Rowdy Roddy Piper's best flick, but they guy in the glasses wasn't blind or anything. Am I missing some terribly obvious joke, or did you think that was Stevie Wonder?
-
I googled for pictures of odity and I found some odd things.
-
Were the as odd as what you get when you google for oddity?

Funny like that kid crossing the finish line in the "arguing on the internet" pic.

Dunno, the thread title said odity so I looked for that.
