I just did a Google on glow wire and found about 800 gazillion black websites that look like they were designed by my 8 year old niece. Not that every website has to be nice and purty, but these are so hard to get some information out of that I just cannot figure out which ones are good deals and which ones are out to screw a person over.
So, any recommendations from anyone here? I'm looking for about 5 foot of glow wire that's already soldered into a plug.
My intention is to run it under my CP so that I can further the glow/neon effect that I've got going.
Thanks in advance; I'd much rather get a recommendation or few from here than just stab blindly at a map.

I don't know if they carry what you're specifically after, but Newegg carries a bunch and they're an EXCELLENT online retailer with a dynamite reputation.

Newegg didn't seem to have much; I'm a fan of NE and didn't think to search there.
The longest they had was 24", but I need to go all the way around the underside of my CP with this stuff on the 3 exposed sides.
Anywhere else? Anyone? Bueller?

I've ordered from Directron before.. they're really good.
I also usually recommend svc.com for this type of stuff, but they don't seem to carry EL Wire anymore. I could swear they used to though.

I bought fiber optic cord to put fiber optics in my cabinet. Look for my pictures end of this month as I'm hoping to be done by then. Anyway, the carry many different lengths of glow wire.

That stuff is kind of cool, especially the sound sensitive stuff.

Good options--thanks for the feedback.
Are there any non-internet places to get this stuff (ie BB, CC, etc.) so I can get a touch/feel out of it and have a better clue as to what I want?

I believe that Microcenter might have some in their 'mods' area. Beyond that, I don't know of any national chain that carries the stuff.

I wonder if you could make some sort of sound sensitive trackball lighting, that could be kind of cool.
-
Sure, wouldn't be that hard, considering that the light comes from under the ball and not inside it.
-
Just coil one of those tubes up underneath the ball?
-
No, use the controller on whatever your ball's actual light source may be.

It just hit me where you can buy glow wire at a B&M. AutoZone, PepBoys, Advanced Auto Parts and places like that.

I recommend checking out reviews of whatever you are planning on buying. I had some of it (PC case mod) but almost never use it because of the insanely annoying high-pitched whine coming off the converter for it. (This was in a case that had so many fans it basically hovered 2 inches off the ground...so the noise was LOUD...)

Thanks. Reality came crashing in when I stopped at the auto parts store this morning and saw EL Wire for $20 for 5' and then can find it for about $6 online. Even with exaggerated shipping, online wins...

plus keep in mind that car store EL wire will come with a ciggarette lighter or just bare wires for a hardwire install. It's very simple to hook up a molex cable to that... but seeing as it's already 3x the price, why bother? Definitely get it online.
