Title: Daphne - Space Ace - ArcadeVGA
Post by: subcriminal on January 02, 2006, 02:31:58 pm
I have an ArcadeVGA Radeon 7000 series and there's a known problem when running the Daphne laserdisk emulator on this card where hardware accelerated interlaced screens are stretched when displayed.
I run Dragons Lair with no acceleration to get the correct screen size but Space Ace is really jerky.
I found an article when reading about VGA-SCART leads where this problem is evident in all Catalyst drivers up to 3.4 when using a standard video renderer or overlay surface.
Is it possible to install Catalyst 3.4 with the ArcadeVGA? Would I loose all the custom resolutions or are they stored in the cards BIOS for the driver to detect? I'm just asking before trying because it's taken ages to setup my cab to get all the games running at the correct resolutions and I don't want to screw it up now! ;) Cheers.

Oh well, Tried the old catalyst driver 3.4. All I got was a display while booting, desktop for a second, then the arcade monitor letting out a sqeal with some blue mess across the screen :( Back to the buggy original driver then. Unless I screwed up the installation by installing over the ArcadeVGA driver. Dunno. If anyone does please post :)

I'm actually having the same problem with my Daphne games, but the weird thing is, it only happened recently.  I'll try to explain, but this might get a little confusing  ::)

As far as hardware is concerned, I have an older ArcadeVGA hooked up through a J-Pac to a WG K7600 monitor.

Apparently the original owner of the cab had done a yoke flip; my picture was always rotated 180
