Trying to hack a psx pad to my cp...opened a pad up, and realized that all my contacts are gonna be half inch or less from the edge, and it got me thinking: I bet there's a way to kind of clip something onto those contacts, instead of having the frustration of trying to solder 15 connections flawlessly. Don't know how I would search for this idea on the board, and haven't run across it. Does anyone know of a device that might be able to clip/attach onto the contacts, in lieu of soldering? Small alligator clips?
In case anyone's wondering, it's a $5 Interact Colors pad from Wal-Mart.

Whats going to hold the clips in place? Are you going to be to get 2 clips onto each contact point without them touching each other?
I have no idea what the guts of one of those looks like so maybe it would work but I can't picture how.

Sorry I don't have a pic available, Eightbit, but unless I'm very mistaken, one ground needed for the whole thing, and one clip for each of the buttons, wired up to their respective pushbuttons. It's configured pretty much like any other after-market pad I've seen, as far as the guts go.

Still how are you going to hold the clips in place?
Perhaps you can drill holes in the contact pad and screw down the wires crimp on wire terminal ends.

*thinking*....I suppose it'd be best to mosey on down to Radio Shack and see what kind of Shaqsessories they've got...the idea of screwing down a contact is interesting...

Should work if the contacts aren't to close together. Maybe get some of that conductive grease stuff to make sure you can get good contact. Is there such a thing as conductive grease?

Almost forgot I had another question: didn't someone once post that hacking a pad to the cp may cause a delay, or was that someone who used a more intricate method with a bunch of wiring and connections? I'm planning on using it for fighters, and don't need the responses slowed...

The problems were around trying to wire mutliple interfaces in parrallel.
