Title: Joytokey and GPWiz49
Post by: mccoy178 on January 02, 2006, 12:32:31 pm
I programmed a joytokey program to run zinc.  When I run zinc in mamewah, the 49 way direction pads are fine, but the buttons are all discombobulated ;D(I made that word up).  It almost seems as though the two rows of buttons are getting mixed up.  In Street Fighter EX for example, P1 has 5 kick buttons and one punch and P2 has 5 punch buttons and one kick button.  It is very strange.  I have checked my settings in joytokey about a gazillion times.  Has anyone seen or heard of this issue?  Very frustrating to say the least. >:(

discombobulated
A adjective
 1  discombobulated, disconcerted

having self-possession upset; thrown into confusion; "the hecklers pelted the discombobulated speaker with anything that came to hand"; "looked at each other dumbly, quite disconcerted"- G.B.Shaw

and G.B.Shaw died in november of 1950 :P

just an aside, i have no idea what could be causing your problem, as mamewah hates me

Thanks for the definition.

DISCLAIMER:  For those of you who didn't know, I lied.  I did not make up the word, "discombobulated".  I copied this word unknowingly and grossly took credit for its creation.  I appologize to the Shaw family and will pass on any and all royalties that I have acquired since the scandal began.

So, anybody experience the Joytokey issue I was asking about?

Many applications use DirectInput, which Joy2Key is not entirely compatible with under all OS's.

1) Map your inputs to the native gamepad controls, not keyboard keys.

2) Try using RBjoy.  It seems to be able to handle DirectInput better, but be aware that it is a layered solution.  It will send the keycode you want it to, but does not block the system from sensing a button press.  If you have both the key and the button defined for different things, they will both be activated.

3) See #1
