Title: PSP Firmware Question
Post by: UndeadMeat on December 30, 2005, 06:15:36 pm
I pooled my xmas money and got myself a PSP and so far I love it. Putting movies on it is a breeze and GameFly is hooking me up for games. My question is this: Aside from playing "homebrew" (which does not interest me) is there any reason for not updating the firmware? I know they mostly just keep tightening security, but I like that you can change the background color and picture from the menu with the newer release.

Thanks,

Besides running homebrew the only other reason for not updating is to run ISO's from the memory stick. Which you have to weigh the choice running ISO's or playing the newest games.

It's not all of the newer games, just some of them are not playable in ISO form on a 1.5 firmware.

Just for your knowledge, you can change the backround pictures on a 1.5 PSP as well, so that's not a big deal.  There are also browsers for 1.5 and 2.0 if you're into that.

But if you don't want to run homebrew or ISOs, just update.  No reason at all not to.
