I am struggling to understand your question. Are you asking how you line up the button/joystick holes between your artwork and your woodwork? If this is the case I used a template as seen HERE (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=35285.msg313316#msg313316)

If it is a software design question, many use Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

Measure it out, draw it out, measure it out, and then measure it out again.

Then after all of this you can take your CPO design (that is to scale) and your CP design (that is also to scale) from whatever program you designed it in, and import both images into Photoshop on different layers.

The rest should be pretty self explanitory... if you have any photoshop experience.
