Title: Router Suggestions
Post by: Yoder on December 30, 2005, 12:43:34 am
I'm going to need to buy a router for my new BYOAC project.  Can you guys suggest the size, brand, and power of router I should be looking at?

I'll be doing lexan cutting and button flush trimming on the CPO, slot cutting for t-molding etc.  Plus I'd like a router for cutting door hinge recesses for non BYOAC projects.

The problem is I haven't used a router since 8th grade shop class back in 1988 so I don't know where to start.  We used Porter Cables and they were NICE, but I'm thinking more like Craftsman or Black and Decker since I won't be using it much.

My specific questions are whether there is a mini-type router that can do this work and whether I need a plunge router...I'm not familiar with those at all.

Thanks for your help...

Do a search for router you'll get over 20 pages.

True...I figured it was off-topic and didn't even think to search.  Nevermind.
