Myself, I don't play these machines hardly ever, I just build and restore...sure I play it in the beginning like a madman, then the newness resides. What do you guys do...
I think just enjoy building more
Cheers,
Tim

Middle of the day, just hanging out with the kids and we've played a game on most of the machines, so put me down as a Yes.
Sadly, it doesn't mean I'm GOOD at any of the games ...
Cheers.

I definitely go through phases with mine. If I'm in "upgrade mode" -- I'll play it every chance I get, to test stuff out or to see what I want to change/add.
But then there are definitely times where I don't touch it for weeks unless friends are over... but the same goes for any gaming hardware, really.
-
I keep mine on, and will walk over to it and play a few games every now and then. It doesn't see regular marathon gaming sessions, but it definitely gets played regularly.
-
I barely play mine.
I'd say, in the last six months, my cab has been turned on & played about 10 times. And 7 of those 10 days were when we had visitors. I voted "sometimes" but would have preferred "rarely" because I'm somewhere between "sometimes" and "only when people are over".
-
I play mine at least once a week. That's laundry day, when I get all my laundry off of it. ;D

Ummmm, Ummmm... I have a MILLION excuses why I don't play mine:
1. Atari Dominos: It's not scottish!
2. Galaga: It's inaccessible.
3. Missile Command cocktail: It's covered and being used as a table!
4. Crystal Castles: Um, I've been busy working on my MAME cabinet.
5. MAME cabinet: I'm not done wiring it up!
Other miscellaneous excuse that apply to all of them:
6. I need to clean the basement.
7. I don't have electrical outlets installed yet in my unfinished basement.
8. The GF complains I don't spend enough time with her.
9. I run a business. It sucks all my time away!
and my #1 biggest excuse:
10. I WASTE TOO MUCH TIME IN

I haven't had my machine for very long but I am still playing it. Back in '87 I played the same machine just about everyday for about a year. The competition between me and Lawton Mann for the high score certainly helped to keep my interest. Plus, having the machine in a public location where people would gather around to watch you play was pretty cool too. Sometimes people would want to see a new high score set to the point that they would give you quarters if you were out. Also, my initials that I signed on machines became my nickname throughout the rest of school (CIB, they pronounced it as "Sib").

I voted "All The Time", altho my cab and it's core PC are both in storage... I play what games I've got installed on my main PC (about 13 of them) regularly...
Can't wait til I buy my home and reassemble the MAME Machine.....
-
I am home with the kiddies for the holidays ...... and we have been playing everyday now a lot. The kids discovered they love Shuffleshot and Toobin'

I play the MegaTech every chance I get, lucky for me it's a multi-game machine by design which means it's quite hard to get bored with!
My Terminator 2 machine on the other hand gets less played, but I do still play it. As long as I can make it past the first level on the game, then I'm hooked till the end (which can last a long time!)
-
I'm off and on with mine, at first I just kept playing Jungle Hunt and Moon Patrol all the time. Than I went back to the Xbox for awhile. But now I just keep playin Golden Tee non stop, and I used to make fun of my buddies that played it in the bar all the time.
-
Every day when I get home from work and then constantly on & off until I go to bed. And of course, it has been getting a good workout on the weekends.
But..... Mine is still shiny and new so the cool factor may wear off over the coming months.
-
Don't have a mame cab yet, but, I play my ms. pacman about once a week and defender a little more. I have spent the most time lately playing my Black Knight Pinball. But then again I just got it working.
-
I used to play all the time... but none I rarely play my mame machine anymore. But since I use my cab to play PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and NES.. I use it all the time.
-
Definitely play mine as often as I can find time to touch it...which might explain why marquee and side art is still unfinished!
Not really...but I did build it as much to create a multi-entertainment system for myself and family as I did to see if I could put one together. Sitting down to a round of Centipede after a stress-filled day of teaching, at my own home-built arcade machine...there's nothing like it!
-
My Mame cabs are still WIP but I play my pinball all the time....
-
Mine was being used less and less recently, but the addition of the Act Labs Light guns has given me renewed interest, love those things!
-
a picture is worth a thousand words :'(

I play mine sometimes. I would love to play it more, but with kids and wifey wanting my attention most of the time, my free time is limited. My boys like the machine so we play it together mostly.
-
I enjoyed building mine but I don't really ever use it.

I allmost never play my machines, they just run all day
-
I tend to go in waves also. Sometimes I play it a couple times a week and other times I go a month without turning it on.
-
I play mine every day.
The AMOUNT that I play has been way down over the last month or so, however.
I've been working long hours, and involved in a whole bunch of other outside commitments, so my "play" time has been really limited.
That will probably continue for at least another 6 months, or so.
My "play" time recently has been about 2 games a day, usually right before bed.
I've got a bunch of retrofitting, etc... to do, and a bunch of new tools that I got for Christmas, but I don't know when I'm going to find time for that.
With the main cab in the "finished but retrofitting" stage, and ALL of the others I've designed not being started yet, I don't know when I'm going to find "work" time between my other commitments.

It definitely gets used alot. But no marathons or gaming parties. It's nice to be able to take 10 min to walk up, drop in a quarter, play a game of Asteroids, and then walk away. It'd be ideal to leave running 24x7 but I can easily go 1-2 weeks without using it and I worry about the (older) monitor failing so I power down. Once it's down, I'm less likely to play because now I gotta power up.
I play generally each weekend. The work week takes everything I have between weekends. And I play whenever my daughter (7) wants to play.
I also play while I work on it or tinker with it (off an on for years now). Add a new emu or upgrade the front-end or whatever and it sparks a new cycle. In the meantime, I hang out here. ;)

PMC, does your motherboard support timed on/off? It's great to set it to shut off at night or while you're at work and then shut on during the evenings.

I don't think it does. But yeah, that'd be cool when used with a Smartswitch. The cab could automatically be on when I'm typically home and would want to play, and off when I'm not around. Nice idea. I'll have to dig a little deeper into that!
It's been demoing AsteroidsGL for the last 48 hours with no one in the room. I think I'll go challenge my daughter to a Donkey Kong contest right now...
