Or "Next time measure the bloody thing itself" ;D
Just a basic site I knocked up documenting an unplanned episode with my first cab and what I plan to do with it in the future.
http://orc.mameworld.info/
Thanks to Twisty and Mameworld for hosting it...(My site is full)
And more thanks to Twisty for tweaking it a bit....
Cheers...

I've updated it.....
Anyone wanna hire some crimpers ;D
http://orc.mameworld.info/Thefuture.html

Too funny. Dam those are some expensive crimpers. I hope they do more than crimp for 160... don't know how much that is in USA $, but it sounds like way too much. It is almost a shame to MAME the cab. It is fully working allready. Keep us all posted.

Well at todays exchange rate they cost about $264

Small update...
Just taken the control harness out.

Another small one.....
I might have found the connectors I was after....
http://www.orc.mameworld.info/Thefuture.html
:)
-
Update....
No need to read the site...
I'm getting the connectors in 7-10 days FOC from Japan....
;D
Tyco UK customer support is the Dogz.....
-
Is that cab jamma compatible?
-
No....
It's a Sega Model 3 Cabinet...
You need a special converter with an added 3.3v power supply.
These seem to be rarer than rocking horse shite...That's why I'm making my own harness to connect to an I-Pac and ArcadeVGA..
-
did someone say sega model 3 . . . .
I wonder, is your monitor dual or Tri res ?
orclord - you can grab a Sega Model 2/3 adaptor from either VektorLogic or failing that - try http://www.excellentcom.net/parts.htm or "coinopexpress"
I have a freind who is big into model2/3 stuff aswell - hes pretty reknowned in the UK as being a Sega boffin, if you want to contact him let me know
-
Cheers...
The Monitor is a 29" nanao and it's a dual.....
I'm sure VektorLogic was the ebay geezer I sent a message to about a harness and got no reply...
That excellentcom has been bookmarked.....Could not find no prices.....but it's Friday so I'm half pissed.....*Burp*
I'm gonna try with the connectors when they turn up....
I'm just twiddling me thumbs at the mo....Ho Hum....
If I run into trouble I will give ya a shout.....
Thanks.....

I've enjoyed delving into the unknown....Learnt a few things along the way...
Cheers all....

Now about that showcase cab.....
;D
-
3 min video of cab boot sequence added....
http://www.orc.mameworld.info/Thefuture.html
:)
-
The cab looks great and I enjoyed your video.
What is the "BootLogger" you spoke of that avoids all of the boot up stuff?
I like your intro and the music, nice job!
-
Took me a while to work that out....Boot Logger ??
Must be my accent......I said Boot Logo.... LOL
I could never hide the bios screens but as luck would have it the time delay from the comp being turned on to the cab being powered up hides it completely. That is when booted originally, you catch a little bit in the Vid because it had been on previously.
OS is 98se...Mamewah is in the startup.
Black wallpaper. Black mouse pointer..
I did use active desktop---->view as web page to hide the icons, but that kept feckin up and I would see the white recovery screen. I then hacked the registry with sthg I came across on the net...It did not work the way it was supposed to, after I put the NoDesktop in the registry and hit F5 the icons were still there. But it seems to have done the trick on initial boot.
