Title: Galaga has no video
Post by: Doughbroz on December 26, 2005, 02:58:52 pm
All game sounds are present, appears to play normally, all connectors and socketed chips clean and reseated, known good monitor, but still no video.  If left off for two minutes, black screen.  If turned off and back on within a few seconds, gray screen.  RGB voltages are roughly 90, 70, and 60 millivolts on black screen; 2.5, 2.7, and 3.4 volts on gray screen.  These voltages are constant while playing the game on either screen, not varying by even a hundredth of a volt on the gray screen.  Suspect a cap problem, but where?  I know I have seen a detailed troubleshooting thread on Galaga somewhere, but can't find it again.  Any ideas appreciated.

Don't know if these will help (or I'm covering area's known to you), but some good info regardless, if your a Galaga owner!

http://www.arcadeshop.com/galaga/galaga.htm  - ArcadeShop Galaga Trouble Shooting and Repair Info.

http://www.arcadedocs.com/vidmanuals/G/galaga2.pdf - Galaga Trouble Shooting Guide (Manual Format)

http://www.ionpool.net/ - No specific Galaga repair info, however good info on the processes that you may need to repair your Galaga.

Also search for 'Galaga Repair Logs' on the net.  You might find someone who had your problem.

Good Luck.

Thank you, spriggy.  The arcadeshop site was the one I couldn't remember.  Some very good info.
