Title: There's Something About Mamewah...
Post by: Roughy on December 20, 2005, 03:01:17 pm
Okay, so I've mucked around enough and managed to get Mamewah working as it should.  I've even managed to get the custom FE all set up.

There are a couple of things I'm trying to get figured out, such as how to disable the 'ok' or l-r joystick nag, but the biggest issue right now is for...

Adding other emulators, such as Z26 & Daphne.

I've successfully managed to add the other items to the "list", but particularly for Z26, I am not able to have it successfully pull up the right layout/screens, even though (and I'm treading lightly on this one) I'm pretty sure I do have the right pathing information in place.

The same goes for launching actual roms; I get a "file not found" dialog, yet again, I'm pretty sure I do have the correct pathing in place.

Any suggestions?

Thanks to Mamewah config, I've got other emulators running, which is cool...

Sort of.

Cannot figure out why Daphne is looking in the C: drive for stuff when I don't reference the C: drive anywhere.

Cannot display the screen for my Z26 roms; my resolution only goes down to 800x600 and I've not found any settings that show what stuff is being displayed at or how to get it to display larger... Anyone?

I can help with the OK issue. There is settings in the MAME.ini file near the bottom of the document that says skip_game info, skip_disclaimer, and skip_validity checks. Set all of them to 1. The first two will get rid of the OK issue and the basic rom check before the game loads. The third will speed up the loading process from Mamewah.

Daphne is a tricky beast. Compare your .ini file to the one at http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer/mamewahinifiles.htm

Thanks; my .ini did not have the disclaimer or validity checks in it!

Ok in daphne the first line in your framefiles will have the path to your mpegs.  Open each one in notepad and make sure that the path is correct.  I was working on a friends cab yesterday and we had the same problem.

I think you should just give it up, Roughy. Mamewah is programmed not to like you.

Ahh, but I so like Mamewah.

And you should be grateful that Blitz isn't available online or I'd be kicking your ass from my cab to yours.

Yeah.

I said it.

Someone might want to correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that if you might be working off an old version of mame. If you were to upgrade the version and move the .ini file to the desktop so it's not used for the newer version, it should create another version and that would probably have the newer settings.
