Title: Slot Cutters?
Post by: eccs19 on December 20, 2005, 01:51:37 pm
Anyone know of where I can purchase a 1/16" slot cutter in Canada? (Ontario preferred)  I'd get it from T-molding.com, but if I can find locally, all the better.  I'd like to get away without paying duty if at all possible.

This is the best site to order slot cutters, but you'll probably have to pay customs fees for Canada.

I don't know if this is any good but the price is right on.  It only has to cut about 40' of wood beore it will sit for a long time.

I went to my local Home Depot and ordered one special order. It took 5 days to get here. No shipping or handling. I live in Ottawa. Make sure you get the slot cutter and the bolt to install it on, I think it all came in one package anyways...

I have one you can borrow if you are near burlington.  Standard disclaimer applies--you break it, you bought it.  if you want to buy your own I went to Meeks' home hardware in waterdown and bought mine (forgot the price now)
Its a porter cable 43247PC   3 wing slot cutter

Ya, I checked all the local hardware stores / home depot, and no one had any, or listed any.

menace,  you are near me (compared to others on this forum). I'm near Barrie.  I appreciate the offer, but I would prefer to just outright purchase one.  Having the part number should help me out for ordering one locally.  Appreciate that.

Go to Home Depot tools section, and ask them to special order you the slot cutter bit from Freud.

They did this for me. I could not find just the 1/16" slot cutter on the Freud website, but found this...

This one is $54, I think I paid around $25 for my 1/16" slot cutter.

I live in Toronto and I'll be in the states for the holidays.  If you want to order it from MSCS (or whatever it's called) you could get it send there and I'll bring it back for you.  That's what I did.  I think it was like $16 inc. shipping.

Just a thought.

PM me if you're interested.

I think $54 is a bit much, but you are getting a set, not just one, and I only need / want the one.  Good idea to see if HD will special order.
