Hello,
I have a Golden Tee Four arcade game. The actual problem is that the horizontal size of the display in the monitor is too wide and thus cuts off each side of the screen. When trying to adjust the horizontal size of the monitor (using the variable resistor (pot) on the control board) it seems that the screen size does not change despite the turning the H-size pot. I have already removed the pot from the control board and checked it and it seems to be working fine (variable resistance of 0-45k ohms). One thing that I did notice is that when I cut the wires going to this pot (ie. open circuit the brown and black wires connecting to pins 1 & 2 of the 16 pin connector), it does not seem to make a difference (ie. the screen size does not change and still stays too wide). The voltage is also considerably higher on the horizontal size adjustment pot when compared to the verticle size pot, is this normal? I've checked continuity across the long wires that go from the monitor board to the control board and everything seems fine. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible that it could be trouble the width coil? Maybe trouble with a capacitor? Does know which capacitor is used to control the width? I heard that it can be reduced in size and this should reduce the width of the display. Any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty sure that I have WG D9200 monitor but I've been told that it is 4 years old and it may be an RCA?? I'll confirm this and write back later.

A new machine like that may not even have a width coil in it.
A lot of times when you loose the range of adjustment in your pots you need a cap kit installed. It will generally fix adjustment problems and issues related to color and brightness.
If the machine has been on for the last 4 years before you had it it's likely due for one.

What does the model number of the chassis? WGM2792?
I think it's the variable resistor since when you turn it, nothing happened. Is the resistance on the VR labeled 45k (453) ohms?

I will get the monitor model number later today but as for the H-Size variable resistor, I took it out of the small control board and checked it with a meter. It seems to be working fine (0-45K ohms - the same as the vertical size adjustment pot). Does anyone know what the symptoms of a bad capacitor are? What voltage should be present on both sides of the H-Size adjustment pot? Also, should this voltage have an AC value? I'm getting weird voltage values something like 60V AC to ground and 27V DC to ground on the same pin?? This seems very weird??
Any comments greatly appreciated.

If you do indeed have the trouble-plagued Wells-Gardner D9200 series, then that model is still new enough for you to purchase the service manual (called a "product manual") from the parts department at Wells-Gardner. Ask the tech support dept about getting into the service/setup mode and changing the horizontal size programmable settings.
